I load about 200 rounds into the Ranch Products moon clips that I use in the SW Governor and have never had one bend or break. When I carry that gun, I usually carry 3 loaded moon clips in the off pocket and over the years never had one bend or a round come out, just not a problem.
They run as fast as you can move the big gun. The Governor is lightweight, 30 ounces or so, but large, so you have to learn how to run it, but once you do it is as fast as anything. And being large in frame, it is pretty easy to hold on target while moving fast, in 45 acp.
The 45 GAP brass is a tiny bit shorter and works just great, technically it could be faster to reload with about the same power but I have not tried to measure the speed.
In 410 is is not so fast however, but at 50 feet I can fire them single action at 1 second per round and get all 24 pellets inside a 14 inch circle, all but 2 inside 12 inches, in 6 seconds, so if your intended use is shooting critters in the hen house, not much faster or more accurate than that. Of course you lose the speed of the reload when shooting 410 if that matters.
The Governor, I added just because I collect Smith and Wesson and no wheel gun collection is complete without that one.
It takes the Hornady 45 Colt and is about 2 inches at 25 yards, so plenty accurate for any short range handgun use.
In 45 acp I tested some of my reloads from 1986, the 200 grain flying ashtray loaded with 6.5 grains of Unique, a moderate load, and got 800 fps from the short barrel, that is 284 fpe, not bad for ammo that old. By carry loads are Remington Golden Sabre Plus P, and with moon clips that are as fast as my many 1911s, just only only 6 rounds, if it matters.
In the 45 acp, I range play with traditional ball ammo, about 300-320 fpe from that short barrel, which is about the same as those Federal 000 Buckshot, 4 of them, which gives us about 75-80 fpe per buckshot, and they weight 75 grains each, so basically four rounds of 32 acp each pull of the trigger. Having carried the 38, 9mm and 45 acp in harms ways many times and the 38, 357, 9mm, and 45 acp in law enforcement, I am OK with that for defensive use.
The Governor with moon clips is not for everyone. It is specialty gun that runs great and fast in double action as well as single action. But is hard to master for many, especially younger people who learn on small guns or striker fired guns. That said, moon clips are what makes it so very fast in operation, far faster than speed loaders and faster that a 1911 magazine, but of course inferior if you need more rounds.
The AR brass is of course replaced with the 45 Cowboy brass, so there is no loss on that one.
Another one of those matters in which technology has changed the plan and where not everybody can learn to shoot the bigger platform. Not a normal carry gun, but in weather where you can wear an outer shirt or jacket, not big deal. I can actually carry the gun without holster in the hip pocket, if just making the rounds on the farm. Probably the coolest handgun I own, and in a survival mode, probably the smartest because it will fire the 45 GAP, 45 acp, 45 Colt and 410 Buck and Birdshot.
Love those moon clips.
