I love these threads! My cut down Colt 1917 and My unmolested S&W 1917 are favorite revolver these days. Something about 45acp in a revolver that just suits me to a T! My S&W 1917 is a shooter grade for sure and from time to time I think of having it cut down to 3 inches or so. I may do it some day!
I don't know if it is considered a snub, but I remade a 1917 into what I call my Combat Masterpiece. Added adj sights, cut down 1950 barrel and round butted.

I got it to a buddy's range today and ran 18 full moon clips (108 rounds) through it. As expected, it was shooting about a foot low at approx. 25 feet. I started lining up the front sight at the point where the blade starts to fan out and it was hitting the steel. Other than that front sight issue, it performed great and was really pretty tame. It's a much better shooter than my M1917 Army model.
Nothing dramatic happening with the muzzle...no flames or anything cool like that.
Obligatory range pic...FWIW, the Geco box was just being used as a prop...I was shooting PMC Bronze and Speer.
