Hello All, I wanted to know if there was any variation of factory recoil springs between 4505 to 4506- models. Also how many coils are there on the springs and what is the spring strength in lbs?

Number of coils can vary by manufacturer. Usually they were supplied with 2 springs, 14# standard and a 10# target spring. 645/4500 full size all used the same spring.

The two factory springs supplied with the 4506 and 4506-1 were, as stated above, 10# and 14#.
List of factory springs:
4506 (and the old 645) - 14#
4566 - 17#
4576 - 17#
1066 - 17#
1076 - 17#
1006 - 18#
I use these springs in my big boys:
4506-1, 645 - Wolff 16#
4566, 4576, 1066, 1076 - Wolff 19#
1006 - Wolff 20#
The above pistols function perfectly and eject spent cases right where they should. However, I don't shoot reduced power loads. Then again, I don't shoot +P loads either.
In fact, except for my S&W pistols that use the dual spring sets (inner and outer), I use Wolff extra power springs (not over +2#) in all my S&W 2nd and 3rd generation pistols (20 of them).

Denver Dick, thanks, that's great information. Was there any truth to the old rumor that the purpose for some of the 1006s having the bottom of their breach faces beveled or angled to the rear was to get them to pick up lower powered cartridges?
