It snowed in Miami.
Junior year High School on a second story walkway after 1st. period class, maybe 37 deg. with a goodly wind blowing from the North and low clouds I felt little bits of something hitting my face. I thought for a sec it was debris from the nearby cafeteria roof but it almost stung then turned wet. The same time I caught the unmistakable smell of snow and realized it was frozen rain / sleet (?).
The wind was dropping, the temp seemed cooler and since I'd seen this in PA a time or two I went to class and dropped the news I thought it may snow.
My buddy Norris asked if my parents had any children that lived.
Few minutes later the principal Mr. T came over the speaker and announced since the occasion was a first down here we could all go out and experience many's first snowfall.
For what it was was really nothing but it was honest to Gosh snow! Then wind had about died and little flakes like dandruff floated about in the air and began to accumulate mostly visible on jacket shoulders. Heard later a bit was able to accumulate on the ground as far south as the Palm Beaches.
Something I'll always remember, even though my wife had to remind me it was this date in '77.
