I've never shot either one yet, but I think I can live without the muzzle brake on the 460V. Has anyone here compared the 460V with the 460PC? I was planning to get plugs made for a 460V but I think adding them to the cost, brings me up to the price of a PC version with he 3.5" barrel. Love the unfluted cylinder look. I just wonder if it's harder to handle than the 460V???

Also can someone post a pic of these two side by side??

Not side by side but close

Not much difference in recoil if any

second from left is new 3.5" PC and 4th one is the 5"

All the 460 I have shoot/own are very accurate.

I would say the guns will out perform the the shooter in 99% of the cases.

Another winter project for me is to Ransom rest these bad boys and get the real scoop

This is one of my favorites. The 460 is a handfull, and as matter of fact that is what is in my family room for quick access, with 45 Colt rounds, of course. The 500 is a REAL hoot.

i love my 5" 460 SW, never saw yet the short barrel version in my gunshop, and doubt it will be imported here ! but imo, it looks like too much the governor (or Taurus judge) with its short barrel and long cylinder.

Well I still can't decide. I wish they made an uncompensated .460 6.5" but they don't.

The never made this configuration. It started as a 6.5" compensated limited PC Hunter from Lew Horton. I removed the compensator with a barrel nut configuration used in the new 3.5" Carry Model.

I'm selling my XDS .45 to a friend tomorrow, in order to get a 460. Have to choose between the 3.5" and the 460V now. It will be my only gun for a while. Might try a little hunting (hogs, white tails and bowling pins), but 95% of what I do will just be target practice. Any more thoughts?? Thanks. I am leaning towards the 3.5 right now. I like the unfluted cylinder and the lack of a compensator.

Here's my 460xvr with out the scope on it. Wish I had more pictures of it to post but it's in the mail on it way to s&w. It was on the recall list. If your going to hunt with your new 460 get ready for the wow factor when you get your first kill with it. Good luck with your new hand cannon!!! Don't forget the ear protection!!!

I think you should go with the 5 inch if your going to hunt with it. With the longer barrel you could make a longer shot with it and if later in life you want a scope you will have the room to add a rail for one.

Awesome. I love that particular 460. Hard to come by these days, though!

Yes they are I found that one at my lgs for $900 back in 2005 I just happen to walk in the same time a guy was trying to sell it for money for a lawyer. He bought one month before he had to sell it and only fired 5 shots the day he got it. I had went there to put the $900 down on a 460 they had in the case new. The seller said to me as I was looking at the new i will make you a deal you can't pass up! Gave him the $900 and we did some paper work. I think I will never get a deal like that again!!

He needed a divorce lawyer go figure!! She must have found out he bought that thing!!
