Just picked up my 460xvr (8 -3/8") when I got home I measured the gap expecting to see closer tolerance, it measured at .010,my new 686+ is at 8-0.009,seems kinda wide ,my old 29 is much tighter at .005,since I haven't shot the 460 & 686 yet just worried about lead spitting out the side,is this gap something I should call S&W about ?

While .010 isn't the closest it's within s&w spec. .012 is the maximum for them. I have/had a few that measured out to .010 and beyond and didn't have any lead spitting. I say take it out and see if it shoots accurately and doesn't spit. If all's good, I wouldn't worry about a thing.

^^^agree^^^

I just sent my 460 back to Smith... My BC gap is .009 (within spec) but my end shake was .005 which I was told by the customer service rep is excessive... So, off she went and I'm hoping they warrantee it being as I am the second owner....

Got some ammo coming in this week & hopefully hit the range by end of week to check things out, seems like S&W should keep better quality control over gap & shake problems.
