.460 primers

I'm starting to accumulate reloading stuff bit by bit so my bride does not tear me a new one (I think she'll thank me in the long run)> Anyway, I bought some Starline brass after reading promsing reviews on it. If I'm correct, I should be looking for large rifle magnum primers, correct? Does it make any difference on manufacturer?

Roger and Sherm,
All the loads I have seen do NOT use MAGNUM primers. Well all but a couple anyway. Here is one site I had bookmarked.

The Alliant Guide shows Fed 210 for their loads.

I would not be stocking up on Magnum primers but rather just plain old "Large Rifle Primers" in any brand.

They will be all you need and it looks to me there are more loads listed without the Mags. than with them.

Just because the gun is a "magnum" doesn't mean it needs "magnum" primers!

I've run a few pounds of 2400 though ours with zero pressure signs and have gotten amazing accuracy.

I got reloading data off Hornady website for their new 200 gr FTX bullet. It's the same bullet as their loaded 460 mag ammo. To my surprise, they listed WLR primers for all powders even H-110.

You only need large rifle primers, magnum primers are not needed for any loads in the the 460 mag.

I use what I can get, Winchester is my first pick then Federal and CCI.

Hodgdon recommends Magnum primers when using their H110/W296 and Lil' Gun powders for the .460. So does the Lyman Manual....... Hornady and Speer do not. I generally don't use magnum primers with Lil' Gun, but I do with H110/W296. Mostly cause they're under some of my hunting loads that may be used in temps of 10 below and more.

Never used a single Magnum Primer in my 460 Mag. Cold temps were never a problem. But if they work for you, by all means use them.
