469 vs. a 6904 marked as a 469 ** See update on post 21**

Sorry for the late update to the thread, folks. I ended up keeping the original Model 469 last year, but my cataract surgery that I had soon after I made the original post affected my near-focus vision enough that I couldn't see the sights that well and in my disappointment I ended up selling it. In retrospect I should've gone for the 6904 as it would have had easier to see sights.

There is a happy ending though! I did miss the 469, though—I have a soft spot for the design. Just this week picked up a replacement at a great price—it's in better shape than the one I sold. I might add some fluorescent orange to the dull yellow front sight to help me pick it up. I can't wait to get it out to the range!

Adwjc,
I did not think there was anyway to put the 3rd gen grips on a 469, as the backstrap is in the way.
fuzzy

I've always felt the plastic grip on my 469 was too slippery and wanted to swap them out. I know I've seen a 669 with Pachmayr's (I have the picture, but no idea where I got it) and Pachmayr doesn't list it in their catalog.

I picked up the Uncle Mikes rubber panels for my nickel 469. They are OK. Not great but OK.
I saw them selling for $40-50 on flea bay  but I found mine in a bargain bin at the LGS for $15.
I also tried the later generation factory grip with the checkering. I still prefer the slim original pebbled grips.

Pachmayr Did make grips for the 469/669 pistols not long after the pistols entered the market place. In fact Pachmayr's were the first thing I bought after shooting my 669 for awhile I still love the pachmayr grips on that gun today my .02 Regards Mike

YMMV, but I always found the Pachmayr 469/669 grips to be too tacky and too fat and just plain ugly... I think they took away from the handling and concealibility of this fine pistol, and I totally concur with others, including MidWesternBoy, about the original pebbled grips.

Just my two cents:
I put about 1200 rounds through a 6906 with the round trigger guard and perhaps half that through my 469. Of the two, it's hard for me to say which I like better. I like the sights and grips on the 6906 more; stainless is good on the gulf coast of Texas. My old 469 has only the single side safety and a half-cock notch, both of which I prefer.
The later gun cost me, used, with two magazines, $425, if I remember. The older gun was $250 with one mag. I miss the newer model, but not to the tune of $175. I can buy a spare magazine and a lot of 9mm WWB for those berries.
