!5-2, 2" Still Sitting Idle

Push-off is still there. I installed a stock rebound spring to no avail. The mating surfaces on hammer/trigger look good to me. For trouble shooting purposes I bought two hammer assemblies off Ebay but had to return them both. Someone had replaced the hammer nose on both with what appears to be N frame noses, if that's possible. Neither one had up/down movement on the hammer and protruded excessively at the top.

This thing is no beauty queen and I plan to sell it, but I will not pass it off to anyone in its present condition. Availability for K hammers and triggers is spotty, at best. I guess i will go back to Brownell's, Midway and GPC to see what I can find.

Well I give you credit for not passing a troubled gun to someone who is not in the know. Many people are not that reputable these days.

I have had luck at local gun shows and on ebay - both a few years back though. Most times the parts they sell are used but most are in descent shape and serviceable. Once or twice I've gotten bum parts and the seller has made good on them by sending out another set.

Perhaps you could post it for sale with ample description of the issue. Many members have hammers and triggers sitting around waiting for a project gun like this.

W4, Tried to send you a PM but your box is full. I have a 2" 15-4 , I would think the hammer and trigger would be the same as your 15-2. The hammer noses didnt change until 85 or 86 I believe, when they dropped the model 14 and started making 6" model 15s.

Just to double check though, on your hammer, is the frame side flat or beveled where the hammer pin fits through. And is the hammer nose spring loaded or not. I would think the stirrup is straight but if its curved let me know that also. Let me know these things and PM me your address. I have k frame hammers and triggers and I would be glad to send you a set to hopefully fix up your gun. Let me know. Bob

Unjammed my PM. No spring on hammer nose and curved stirrup. I have sent some pictures to Armorer951 for examination.

W-4, can you post a photo of your hammer, preferably the frame side. Have some hammers with curved stirrup but narrow spur. Just want to see if I can match what you have. Stirrup can always be changed.

Normally, if the cocking notch in the hammer is in-tact, there's no need to "shop around" for new or used triggers and/or hammers. Push off can very often be easily and quickly repaired with a bit of patient attention to the trigger, and a 6" x 1/2" x1/2" Norton 'medium' India stone, using the 'bench top' method described the the S&W armorer's manual.

Please don't discard those OEM factory triggers....they can usually be fully restored, simply by sharpening.
