5 inch N frames Old & New

While you are looking, you might find a McGivern model interesting. Its a 5" 38-44, with adjustable sights, a McGivern gold bead front sight, and grooved grip straps. They are seldom seen, and expensive, but outstanding revolvers.

At the moment, the only 5" I have is a U.S. Army Model of 1917. One of these days I hope to add a 5" .357 Magnum (pre- or Model 27-2) to my modest collection of N-frames.

5" N frames are God's most blessed barrel length for the frame size.

Here's a registered magnum equipped correctly.

Own and have owned a bunch of 5" guns, all N-frames in .357, .41, .44, .45 Colt and .45 ACP....and for coming out of the holster and daily carry still prefer the 4" barrel length...

Currently own:

27-2 converted to .41 Magnum

...but the 4" guns just balance better for me.

I'm in agreement, the 5" is the sweet spot for the N-Frame. I've got 8-3/8", 6-1/2" & the 5", the 5" is my favorite shooter The good news the 8-3/8 & the 6-1/2 are both no dashes.
