500 Ammo Differences 350gr vs 500gr

Hi, i have a Smith & Wesson 500 and i have shot it several times with cor-bon 275gr hornady 300gr and 350gr and i recently got a box of 500gr hornady ammo and was wondering what is the felt recoil difference going to be between the 350gr hornady and the 500gr hornady. Also i have a 10 1/2 in barrel performance center 500 that i will be shooting, what i am needing to know is what to expect as far as recoil between the two rounds. Thank you.!

You've got a pretty hefty revolver there and that ammo should move out at approximately 1,400fps. I wouldn't think the felt recoil would be much over 20/25% more than the 375 Cor-bon, if that.

Yeah i shot it at the range this evening and the hornady 350gr and the 500gr dont feel any different but my wrist hurts more when shooting the 500gr after range time though but nothing i cant manage to bear for a day or so, thanks for your input i appreciate it ,also i got to shoot my 357 smith & wesson today for the first time it seems like its going to be a good conceal gun i was shooting .38spl +P and was very pleased much better than an auto pistol in my opinion the revolver never jams,but im getting off topic here so ill wrap it up and say thanks for your response, i appeciate it.

Late to he party.. but I had a 6.5" 500. The difference between a 350 gr and 500gr was like shooting a 340PD with .38+P and 158 gr 357 rounds. The 1st was a slight bone rattling experience. The 2nd was like hitting my hand with a hammer. I had a bruise on my right palm fo ra week after shooting a few cylinders of 500 gr. No bruising with the 350gr.With a larger barrel I am sure that gets dampened.

I'd just got me one few months ago, I'm suppose to be hunting with it shortly, I have a 350 gr bullet. Looking forward.

Now you need to step up to the 600 + 700 gr hard cast. Great for Africa, T-Rex. I have shot from 275 - 700, in barrels from 4" to 18" ( rifle). 350 XTP's will take most anything from deer to moose, can always use the 500's for the upper end ( moose ) . the 600/700 do not stabilize well out of 4" ( 3" ) barrel, they do work nice from 6" on up. Thank you for the link goldwing. I have a reloading setup, but have not started on 500 yet. Still need a few bits for that.

So I was hoping to just buy loaded cartridges. I will be ordering some bullets Matts though.
