500 sight options?

Guys, Age has robbed my eye sight. I can no longer see the rear sight on just about anything.

I have found that I can still use a rear aperature though. Preferably with a fiber optic front sight.

Can anyone direct me to a rear "peep" and front fiber optic sight set for a 500 magnum?

Any additional information would be helpful too. I do not wish to put optics (scope etc.) on this handgun.

Thanks,

A scope or red dot sight is the simplistic answer but it's not for me. A scope greatly magnifies any movement I create and for whatever reason, I tend to "chase" the dot in a red dot optic. Iron sights, despite acuity or focus problems even with glasses are still the best option for me.

You might try a Merit disc setup, it has worked for me but doesn't work well for me now with my correction/bifocals and moderate sized lenses.

I too hope someone has a good solution for you. I edited this to add that the Merit disc has an adjustable aperature so you can "tune" it to your specific needs. Don

Well, Motor1's question got me thinking. I haven't used the Merit in a while simply because the suction cup disc that attaches it to your glasses has aged and is too stiff to stick to the lens. So, I ordered a new one from Merit so the adjustable aperature will be useable again. Don

I use safety glasses with a diopter but this is not practical in the woods.

Still searching.

Can't help with the rear, but I put a SDM green sight on mine before heading out to CO. a few years back. I might have a red one for sale, unused, if I can find it-- they light up like a Christmas tree. :)

I mounted one of these on my 12" Encore and like it:

Williams AceInTheHole

It is paired with a Lyman front sight but a fiber optic would work just as well.
In fact Williams sells fiber fronts for these.
The advantage of the Lyman is you can change out various reticles.
The aperture part of the Williams takes different sized inserts.
I use a camera shutter type variable.
Take out the insert and you have a nice fast action "ghost" aperture.
The whole idea of the Ace In The Hole is you can also mount a red dot or other scope if you decide to.
I haven't (yet).
Mounting one on an X frame might take the advice and skills of a revolver smith and some mods of the scope base part.
There are several simpler straight aperture sights out there including Williams and Lyman.

A little article about peep sights and us geezers:

If you find it let me know.

PS: What does it take to get the muzzle brake off so you can change it?
