I have a new in the box 50th anniversary mod 29-10 that's never had the cylinder turned except at the factory. I was wondering what the value would be if I wanted to sell it. My health is not what it use to be and I'm thinking that I need to start liquidating my collection of S&W revolvers. Any help would be appreciated.

As with all things "guns" it depends. If you want to sell it to a dealer...50%. If you want to sell it to a private collector, 80% and up.

The 29-10 is the "New Classic" design and many "Old School" collectors won't want it, but many "Modern School" people will want it....so you simply have to advertise it for the price you desire and see where the market drives you.

Since the "New Classic" is a current issue, what you cannot expect is to profit from such a sale since any number over "retail" will simply have the prospective buyer headed to the store to buy a KNOWN brand new example.

EXPECT to sell for at least 10% below what you paid, and probably more.

Thanks for the reply. But I have never sold a NIB firearm for less than I paid for it and not going to start now. I'll keep it and leave it the one of my grandkids. Or shoot the darn thing.

I think that was what Mr Lear meant - sell it now and you'll take a hit. In 10-20 years, in unfired condition it will be worth a lot more.
