52-2 extractor

Hi Folks,
I have a 52-5 from '85 that I shoot from time to time.
It operates well and is fun to shoot and shoots well when I follow through .
My question stems from what I observed when I got it back from the range last week as I was cleaning.
I noticed that the extractor only had about 33% of the hook that actually does the extraction left on it . The rest had fractured . It hadn't failed completely yet, so that was the good part, the bad part is that there are no replacement parts from S&W.
So as usual I resorted to Numrich and good for them, they have produced an after market extractor that they sell for $28 American Dollars which I promptly ordered.
Have any of you folks used this part in the past ?
Seems to me that if Gun Parts USA is making a part there must be a very common need for that part. This extractor isn't the most robust looking component .
My experience with Numrich has been spotty to say the least. I'm grateful they are there and they are holding up their end of the customer service bargain for sure , but the quality of the parts they have made is touch and go.
So....
Anybody use this part ? and is there any source for 52-2 parts other than Numrich ?
This is a cool gun but I can't afford to collect them for spares . If S&W isn't supporting them it might just be time to let this bad boy go.
Anyone making parts for this thing ?

Well, I have a little experience in this. The first 52-2 that I ever bought appeared to be very low miles but gave me occasional failure to extract malfunctions... so I started looking around and I found on Numrich that they offered new production replacement extractors and they also had some older, used extractors -- and judging by an easy inspection, the old used extractor was exactly that, it was a used part and not some old Smith & Wesson part stock.

I say that because the new replacement extractor is what I put in the pistol first and it was glaringly obvious that it was NOT going to work until it was well dressed so that it would allow feeding. The used part was just plain good to go and ready. I feel that I could definitely do the work to dress the new part and make it work, but at the time -- what I really wanted was to shoot my new-to-me Model 52!

I have since gotten another 52 that is in lower condition, so after getting my first 52-2 running properly, I have basically safe queen'd it.

That's my l-o-n-g way of saying that if you have decent skill with a small file and you have a current working part to inspect closely, especially when that current part is installed, and you can watch the feed cycle when you slowly run the pistol by hand to see how the cartridge slips under the extractor, I don't think you need to be scared of a new production extractor, just be aware that the new production extractor is NOT A DROP IN PART. Oh, it will extract! But you won't feed a single round until you've dressed that part.
