The one's I've seen have been $550 - $700 but some have gone for more. I'm not of the opinion that GB or other auction sites set the market...too many impulsive buyers with money. There may be someone who will give tip-top $$ for a gun but the seller has to be willing to try to find them...which is not as difficult lately as it may have been a year ago!

I would love to have a 6" 586 to go with the 3" and 4" I have but I don't "need" one and will wait for the prices come down a little...if they ever do. But if I didn't have a 586 I would probably be on the hunt as you are...so good luck in your quest on a great gun.

Love my 586 with 4" bbl! Best durn all-round man-stopper on the planet!
Good luck finding that 6".

I'll find one, I don'e NEED one right now either, I may also wait a while til this nonsense calms down a bit. I regret getting rid of the one I had long ago, but I was a dumb kid, probably got something stupid with the $. Come to think of it, there are several guns I wish I hadn't sold. Shocker eh? :)

Infidel_319: The 586 was made from 1980 until 1999. No dash up to 1986, dash 1 in 1986, dash 2 in 1987, dash 3 from 1988 until 1992, dash 4 and 5 in 1993, dash 6 from 1997 until discontinued in 1999.

From the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson.

Hope this helps. Have a good day.

a 6" M586 is such a cool gun and shoots among the best...i recently picked up a 586 in nickel that is just gorgeous...i paid $550 for it in 98%....that about what i would expect to pay for a blued one as well....

6-700 is going rate around here right now. I've had mine for
couple years and it is like new. Slight turn ring thats all.
