My 586 L Comp with Ahrends Grips and SDM Fiber Optic Front Sight. And amazing action job by Mike Carmoney.
Very nice. What type of wood are your Ahrends?
Pic below shows the original grips that came on the L-Comps from the factory (PC).
Now to your question, if the grips above are what you are asking about, they were made by Altamont. Lots of other vendors make grips for the K/L RB grip frame, if you want bigger you can always get target grips that were made to covert RB to SB profile, but I'm not sure why, I suppose it would depend on your usage. Most folks look at this model as a carry/concealment piece, and generally speaking smaller is better for that purpose for a variety of reasons (concealment being primary).

Guess I should Have Said Fuller Grips As My One Hand Has Had Some Injury To The Ring & B.B. Finger Scar Tissue And Makes It Hard To Get A Grip On The Those 2 Finger Grips For Control ! Red Stained Maple. Superlight as well and does not add unnecessary weight to the gun. Walnut is the lightest wood he uses followed by maple. He has many other woods that are twice the weight. I usually go with Maple from Ahrends because with the right stain they look awesome. Love the red stain in particular.
Here are a couple of more L Frames with a smaller set of red stained Maple Ahrends. I am particularly fond of these grips. Here they are on my My 386PD and my 386 Night Guard:

Understood! Grips are tough as every one has a different hand size/geometry. The Ahrends that HarrishMasher shows above may fit the bill, but ultimately you might end up trying several styles to get what you need.
Some years back I settled on Spegel grips for my needs, they are a bit fuller/wider than the Altamonts which are fairly thin as you note, but again, it may end up being trial and error until you get what you want.
Although not as pretty to look at, the Uncle Mikes RB grips that cover the back strap would be a good place to start, giving good control and are fairly inexpensive as a trial set, in fact I have several pair hanging around if you would like to try a set, just PM me with your address and I will send along a set.
That Would Be a Great deal, But As For Now I'm Trying To Hold out For 2 Pair Of American Legend Grips 1 For My 625 Thunder Ranch, 1 For My 686PC By The Time I Get The 586L Comp I Should Hopefully Know Which Way To Go / Thank You For Your Offer !
Well Pick Up My 586 L Comp Took It For A Test Drive ! Shoots Point Of Aim Grips Are A Bit Of A Problem But Can Correct That Front Sight Smith&Wesson Need To Put More Of An Effort In For A Night Sight ! Come On For The Money It Sux's ! Another Easy Fix ! "moe money" Moe Money !
