5906 birth date help

Hey all, getting my 5906 back from warranty service and was wondering you guys could help me try and figure out it's approximate birth date.

The serial # starts with VCD, and from what my research tells me it is a mid 90's production gun because of it's rounded trigger-guard, the black hammer and the black trigger (non MIM parts).

Any and all help is appreciated!

1994 would be the best guess from the standard reference. Someone may have more specific info. Hope this is helpful.

I was thinking 1993/94 myself. I believe it was 95 they switched to MIM parts.

Do you have the original box? Following the serial number is a 4 digit code in the "Spec. Ord." area, bottom right corner. This is the date it was test fired. The first digit is the year, followed by the day. For instance if the code is "4123", this translates to the 123rd day of 1994 (or 2004 but we know that cannot be based on the Serial number prefix).
