5906 Decisions

This is why I really like this board. I clicked on this thread because I just bought a LEO-turn in 5906 that's still in waiting time jail. But the photos showed a grip that looked a little chewed up. So I ordered a new grip from Midway Arms. I never noticed that it was a straight grip versus the curved grip, but I think I'll like the straight grip better because I like straight grips on my 1911. And then another entry in the thread had a photo of the instructions on how to properly change the grips! Now I'm set. Thanks guys.

Remember these were never intended to be "target pistols" at 25 yds.

Figure all inside the 9 ring on a B-27 target.... is GTG. In real life you want to hit around the upper "9"

Good reliable duty gun.

You're right. I probably have some expectations that aren't really what they're designed for.

It'll definitely hold the 9 ring if I do my part. It has been perfectly reliable, even shooting some questionable steel case trash I had picked up somewhere. It eats just about anything.

I'm leaning on keeping it. I've put the parts and extra mags into the thing, so that is a sunk cost. It's not hurting me to hang on to it for the time, and while I don't love it, I may actually miss it if its gone. If nothing else, it's a good loaner/trainer gun for teaching others.

I only have one 5906 as it's too heavy for EDC IMHO. I leave EDC to alloy frame guns like the 6906 and 915. But the 5906 makes, for me, a nice home defense gun that really soaks up the 9mm recoil. And you can add Mec-gar 17 and 20 rd mags.

I also have a PC DPA5906 that was going to be a "game gun".... but kids Soccer put an end to my "Gaming" days!!!!!
