I bought a 5906 from CDNN and it came with Hogue Grips. I have read they add considerable girth or width to the gun. It looks like the factory grips are one piece. How would these install compared to the Hogue? Would I need to purchase anything else or have to do any drilling.

Also which is thinner the straight or curved? Does anyone have pics of both?

Thanks

Brownell's lists them on this page along with correct pin for use with the factory Delrin grips however the pin and curved version appear to be out of stock: Brownells Search : Search Results for "grip 5906" - World's Largest Supplier of Firearm Accessories, Gun Parts and Gunsmithing Tools - BROWNELLS

You might also want to check the Classifieds here for replacements. I've found that many times a new set of grips along with some TLC with a green Scotchbrite pad on the stainless can make used stainless 3rd Gens look almost new.

If you get any of the FFL, LE, etc. discounts they end up right around $15 plus shipping from Brownell's. All you would need is the new grip and pin to replace your Hogue's. Either the straight or curved will work. The curved are "more correct" for a 59 series while the straight are "more correct" for the 40 series. Neither on the other is wrong though.

I believe the straight have less depth and therefore feel a bit smaller but I may be wrong. Either will definitely be smaller than the Hogue's.

Only have a pic of the curved to share as I don't care for the straight:

i got a pair from Brownsville for my 4006 (5906 in 40S&W) and went on in about 5 minutes... all u do is punch out the bottom pin and slide them on from the bottom... i bought mine used also...and the new factory grips make it look so much better... i got the ones with the curved back on it...old style i think... judt didnt like the straight back strap

I know the Hogues on my 6906 were quite a bit fatter than the factory grip. I ended up going back to the original.

I dont have any straight ones but if you will pm me your mailing info I will send you a nice set of the curved backstrap ones for you to try/have.Give me a couple days to get them in the mail.
I perfer the straight backstrap. Maybe you will like them. Kinda a welcome to the forum karma thing. This is a great place to make friends and learn alot. Welcome aboard. Bob

Midway carries these grips also. The pin on the Houges that holds the plastic spring retainer is the same as the pin for the original grips. I THINK most 5906's came with the curved backstrap, but either the curved or straight will fit and work fine.
