Email [email protected] with the model number or description and serial number and they will provide you with a shipping/manufacturing date. Not as informative as a letter, but it will at least tell you the age of the gun and who it was originally shipped to. I've used them several time. How does one reach out to find info on the serial number? I know that won't probably tell me anything about the number under the grips but maybe!
Roger that and not typical. I don't think most officers/agencies would remove the grips to put a case number on it. They used to put on with an engraving pen or scratch it in with a pocket knife in the middle of an area that any open space. Used to drive me crazy. I have seen more nice guns ruined with gosh awful numbers scratched in them. I refused to do that and finally got my agency to stop that old school practice. We started putting them in a sealed evidence box sized specifically for handguns.Evidence number under the grips? That's a very kind way to do it!
