5906 mags

Check local pawn shops/gun stores. Many will have a box or 2 of used pistol mags. You will have to ask for the box and then search thru it looking for what you need. Of course, you have to know what you are looking for as most OEM mags are not clearly marked what they fit. Most of the time, they will let you pick up the used mags for $10 or so each. Guns like these are so rare compared to modern production, the mags sit in the store for years until someone comes along and finds the gem.

The only 3rd Gen mag I haven't found in the last 2-3 years is the 1006 mag

I too have a 5906 that only came with one magazine. I would like to purchase two spares so that I can carry this on duty sometimes. The 5906 was my first issued pistol circa 1998. So far, I have not found any. I would prefer two restricted mags if possible, if not, no restricted factory are ok, followed my MecGar in Nickel, either 15 or 17 round would be ok.

in the past 2 months here, I picked up 5 15 rd blued MecGar mags, and in another transaction, 3 nickel 17rd MecGar magazines.

you just need to look. you will find 59 series magazines here for sale. either S&W, or MecGar. Do NOT accept any others. They are iffy at best.

Mec-Gar are fine, both 15 and 17rd.

I have a 5946 NYPD, and I have the period correct LEO/Restricted mags for it.

I have a generic NOS 5906 (still a great gun, don't get me wrong) that came with a AWB 10rd mag.

It now has 2 15rd and 1 17rd MecGar's in the case with it

I honestly thought since the factory mags were out of stock for so long and the gun model has long been discontinued, we would never see them again. Figured S&W had discontinued them, but this makes me think they are still making them. This brings hope for some other ones we can't find right now.

I was able to order a couple of them today. HeavyJim I appreciate you pointing this out and letting me know. I looked there a few weeks ago along with several other places and turned up nothing. I have not even been able to find the nickel plated MecGar ones in stock online, either 15 or 17 round.
