I was at Cabellas tonight to pick up some rounds. I thought to look and see if they had any 3rd gen in the used area. I found a 5906 with adjustable sights looks like it was never fired. The manual and warranty cards were behind the foam. The asking price was 499 but with a employee discount card it was 425. it has box and 2 clips.

Took it home last night. The gun check out line was almost 2 hours.
I will need to call CS and see what they say for a mfg. date. Serial number is VCZ45 if someone has an estimate of the date.

Sorry first attempt to post pictures.

I shot the 5906 today at the range. Nice shooting gun. It's was a friends. It looked like a police issued one? Had some holster rubbing marks on the slide. Dunno. I will post some pics soon if anyone can tell me about it. He wants to sell it. I want to buy it.

That is one nice 5906. You got an excellent deal. Never sell it! And get you some Froglube for those innards.

thank you. I have not had a chance to go fire it yet but will this week. I may have over paid a little but it is in exceptional shape. I picked up a 4506 earlier this month a little beat up with no box but Truly enjoy it.

Ya done good Pilgrim, now go getcha another one. Nice piece, you'll love it. Didn't know the 3rd gens had the sight shield. Was that just for adjustable sights? All my 3G's are open Novak style.

Yes the shield is just for the adjustable sights. Looks the same on the 4506 I recently picked up.

On the box, there might be a "Spec. Ord" number that can be decoded to determine the date of manufacture. I can't tell from the photo if there is one or not. Can you tell us the Spec Ord number?
