I watched an auction yesterday, yes on the regular site, it was a PC 5906, However, it was unlike any of the usual versions I have seen. Im sure others here saw it , maybe even the new owner will be here !!!!.
It was a 4 " Melonite gun , with strange star/cross on the slide, PC emblem on frame, and cuts into the frame/dust cover, for a weight, like model 52s or I think model 952s have it . Also it had a lanyard loop. All easy stuff to order up, but I could not see the model number anywhere on the pistol, and the serial number is HTS0042, which I couldn't find any reference to in my books, but I can be mistaken.
I know all this could easily be special order from the PC. I contacted the seller, a pawnshop, they said the owner stated it was a special build for a "company" he worked for, no additional info.
My main interest, at least after it went to more than I wanted to pay, was when it was built. Just wondering if any one had more info..

I can post a photo, if that is permissible since it came from the ad.

I concur with every thing you wrote except the 952 part about the rail cut for counterweight -- with the caveat that I have seen that ONCE on a 952, but it had to have been custom or added work.

I know nothing about the subject gun, I thought it was at least a slight mistake that the seller didn't show a picture angle of the Briley bushing it certainly had.

The oddball serial number prefix only tells us that it is even more rare and mysterious than we'd otherwise imagine!

Hahaha, it occurred to me a week ago when looking at the auction that it isn't a requirement that you own the pistol to request a factory letter. Heh, you would have to be fast and loose with your cash, but that's one way to maybe learn more -- haha request a letter on somebody else's pistol! :D

Ive never owned a 952 or looked at one in a store , I saw a couple bullseye shooters , that had the weights attached, so they may have very well had it done, they bought the weights from DJ precision, much less than the original S/W weights.
I know that at one time you could order the serial # at least the triple alpha if you ordered enough guns from the PC , they were laser etched.
And yes I thought it was weird that no photo of the muzzle area at all, I asked about that, but no response. Other than the gun has a PC logo.

Very nice gun. $2900 and change. Someome wanted that one. Never came across a serial prefix like that.

Interesting gun. Thanks for telling us about this one CALREB!! :) Regards 18DAI

I don't understand 3000 dollars for that gun but maybe, as I said in another thread, I'm just cheap that way....

There's a lot of mystery to this one and the fact that it is melonited makes it rare, it's odd serial number makes it more intriguing also.

If this were confirmed as a known model (DPA 5906) then market is around half of what the auction ended at.

Well I guess Im a greedy ***, always hoping to snag another one , on the cheap, I think those days are long gone, everybody is probably watching.
I will say that I go to a lot of gunshows now that I moved to TX, making up for the last 30+ years in CA, and I have yet to see a 3rd gen type(metal) PC semiauto at any show. Im sure folks know about them, but you don't see any for sale.
Sevens, had some spare time last night so I searched for Security companies, Police , Firearms Instruction,Firearms related companies, ammo, target systems etc, Mercenaries, anything I could think of looking for the emblem or info with no luck.
They (S/W) made so many different runs on those guns it might be impossible without a serial number lookup. But its fun to mess around with.
Hard to guess market value, but another recent auction for a 4" DPA went for 2700+. Sooo!!!!
Good to hear from you 18 DAI.Hope all is well.

I am hoping someone turns up some information on this one. Looked at the username who won the auction, but did not recognize it.

OK, I know this was from a long time ago, but another mystery solved. Another PC gun figured out. The gun discussed in this thread. Is one of 50 or more made for a Japanese company in the day. If you go to Utube and look in Ken Hackathorn's videos he explains that he developed and got the gun ordered for some group he was training in Asia, doing counterterrorist stuff. The grooves were for a standoff device, also made by SW. Gun possibly used on ships or close quarters. 2nd reason to have a weapon light. Emblem was companies. The group was the Japanese Coast Guard Anti terrorist unit, I believe.

I don't watch many videos but this one was interesting. Again, back in that day if you could order up 20 or so they would make them, crazy. I do like the gun though. Make me wish I had held on to more than one of my DPA guns to have it coated. The serial number stood for Hackathorn Tactical Systems = HTS. Not sure how many were made sounds like maybe 50 or 50,000 dollars worth. I would XX!!! for one of those standoff devices. Have to watch Numrich, ha. Anyway, mystery solved.
