Traded my g19 which was fairly new for a late model 5906. Agreed to trade by pic only but not disappointed when I took posession. Can't wait to shoot it. Glock was a great gun, maybe the best do it all 9mm,, just boring to me.
Love the grip and balance of this gun. Solid and tight action also.

The 5906 is an absolutely wonderful piece to shoot. Nice heft and balance. Just a real solid feel. None of that Glock "clang" here. The double stack grip has a great feel, and it just points so quick. It will take anything you feed it with no problems. It's no wonder it was a favorite of so many LEOs as a backup. Great video on YOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmNU2x5kuvA

There seems to be a 5906 bug going around here the last few days...

I grabbed mine for a great price, as i was not looking for a collector's ite,, just a solid range gun. Lots of holster wear, and tthe sights were rough, but internally was in great shape. It's the step-child of my Smith's, as it's always the 1st one I think about trading or selling, but it's too functional for me to ditch.

There does seem to be a bug going around. I caught it a couple of weeks ago when I spotted an ANIB 5906 in a LGS at a great price. I took it to the range for the first time the other day and was very pleased with the results. This thread gives me an excuse to post a pic!

Very nice pic!

I absolutely love my recently-acquired 5906 as well. But man...the G19 is my hands-down go-to gun. If my life was on the line, it'd be the (handgun) I'd choose to defend it.

Back in the not-so-distant past you could score a police trade-in 5906, carried often but hardly ever fired, for $250-325. Nowadays these dealers are asking up to $500 for these guns, and the ones they're selling ain't all that nice!

Everything S&W has gone up lately...

One more. Hope to shoot it this week. Absolutely beautiful!

I had been wanting a 5906 for some time before I picked mine up last December. SOG in Ohio had just received a shipment of LEO trade-ins and being my cousin has an FFL he got me a hand select for $300 and change.
I have had quite a few firearms that I have sold in the past, that I said I never would. Well, this 5906 will NEVER leave my collection.

The 5906 is certainly a favorite, found mine on gbroker a few years ago LEO trade in not too rough with new hogue grip, 15 rd mag and a little Plano case for about $300, my wife knows it as "the shiny one" (yes I polished the slide) and it's her pick for the range - good pick :-)
