5906tsw convert to da/sa

Hey guys, I just picked up a 5906tsw on GB. Its a double action only, I don't even realize that they were made that way. I would not have purchased it if I knew it was dao. What do I need to get to convert it to traditional da/sa and where can these parts be bought?? thanks

I THINK the 5906 was originally a SA/DA. I've had several, and they were all that way. Simply said, I believe someone has converted yours and converting it back will be a matter of getting the right parts.

Where are do you guys order these parts from. I'm looking on numrich.com for the hammer and trigger but which one am I suppose to order??

I'm looking at items#
1648460 stripped hammer
331570 sear release lever
361810 trigger

This seem right?? It has a safety/ decocker already, so I should be good with that right??

Since the Numrich part numbers are useless outside of Numrich, here are the S&W part numbers.

Sear release lever 104030000
Trigger 262190000
Hammer 262230000

The TSW line was made to be converted either way. That way LE agencies could change their minds whenever. You need a firing pin retainer or safety, firing pin spacer lever or sear release lever, TDA or DOA trigger, and the TDA or DOA hammer.

Hi, Tim!

If it has manual safety levers on the slide, it was probably not converted to Double Action Only.

Can you post a picture or a link to the ended auction?
Does the hammer have a thumb spur?
Will the hammer remain cocked if manually pulled back?

If yes to the second question and no to the third, you may simply have a da/sa hammer with a damaged/modified single action notch.

I am the OP in the threads that jsbethel linked to and I have done a number of these conversions and answering these questions may help me find the best answer to your question.

The gun does have a spurred hammer but the hammer does not stay back when cocked. I completely disassembled it last night and found that the flat sear spring was broken. And the hammer and sear both had "not for 39 or 59 series stamped into the parts. I can take pictures of everything when I get home from work. It didn't seem to me that any parts were broken or modified. Thanks

If the sear spring is broken, single action will not work because the spring won't force the sear to catch on the hammer.
Replace the sear spring (the retaining pin is a "challenge") and your pistol should be repaired.
Not a common problem but not unheard of, either.
