5946 Hogue Grips question

I’m very strongly considering getting a set of overmolded Hogue grips for my 5946. Any suggestions or feedback, and how do you mount them?

I think your 5946 is a third generation pistol frame? If so, I had a set of Hogue wood grips and also Hogue rubber grips for my 5906. Their method of attaching the grips to the pistol was rather novel. My only complaint was they were pretty thick and I have rather large hands so it was ok for me but if you have smaller hands it might be an issue.

I’ve got medium-large hands, the width would be a plus. The OEM plastic ones are too slippery for me

Not a fan, tho I have smallish hands. The definitely add bulk to the grip.

The Hogue grip for the 5906 will work. I do find the hogues a bit wide on the double stack 3rd gens myself. I really love them on the single stacks. The Hogue is a 2 piece split grip with an adapter. The adapter holds the hammer spring/plunger and then the grips slide on like the factory grip and has 2 screws that secures the grip to the adapter. Pretty easy and it comes with instructions.

I do find the plastic grips a bit slippery. You can stipple the factory grips with a soldering iron and really improve the grip.

I also added a piece of tread tape to the front of the grip to enhance grip. I used this tape on the front of a 6904 that only had vertical lines, not the typical cross hatch grooves on it. I bought the tread tape from Lowes years back to put on my motorcycle floor board replacing rubber and it has held up for 25 years.
