I am being offered one as a partial trade, very clean just a slight turn line. 6.5" non-fluted, correct Houge grips. No box or papers. He has a $1K value on it. I'm thinking this is a decent deal. Any one own one? how are they? CFE serial number, 1998? No lock.

Well I did agree to take it. Have S&W 40 dies, I believe they should work fine. Also have a ton of 40 S&W brass. Will have to get some 10MM brass and perhaps some more bullets. From what I can see reading around on the 610's they are supposed to be very accurate. Can anyone date this revolver? serial number starts with "CFE"

Kernel Crittenden,
Thanks for the dating. I guess that would be the second time S&W had a 610 for sale.

I have a 610-3 4" and love the heck out of it. Shoots great. One thing I learned is that .40SW brass has inconsistent rim thickness. I have read this from other 610 owners and have experienced some misfires on .40 SW brass. When using 10mm brass, I have never had a problem. It seems like the 610 has a little softer recoil than my Glock 20.

Miss fries even with Moon Clips, I have a lot of 40 S&W brass, from several makers any one in particular?

I have not had the time to see if it were any one brand of brass. I am using the steel factory full moon clips. I bought a Brownells de-mooner tool that looks like a big screwdriver. One of the simplest and easiest tools to use.

I believe that the Moon Clips that are coming with this revolver are after market. I have some 10MM Starline brass on the way. Will see how things pan out.

It helps to sort your brass and stick to the same brand for consistency.

I haven't put a lot of of 40 S&W through mine but, when I did, it was factory Winchester ammunition. It worked fine with the factory moon clips.

I haven't had any problems with 10MM Auto Starline brass in mine.

I was using whatever factory ammo I had on hand at the time. It seemed like the Hornady Critical Duty ammo was consistently good.
