617 - first cleaning

Shot my new 617. When cleaning it for the first time, some rather large chunks of lead came out of the barrel when brushed.

Is this normal when first fired?

Depends on what ammo and how much you shot. Always give a good cleaning with a brush and cleaning fluid. You may not see the lead come out with different brands of ammo.

Winchester superX lead round nose copper plated. About 70 rounds I guess. There may have been a few thunder bolts mixed in there.

Had the same with my new 617, and I think with Thunderbolts... This is a ~ 5yr old pic.
