Those are nice and always on the wish list. But are usually priced just out of my budget range when I see them.
A large gun shop that I occasionally frequent has two 3 inch 624's and a 3 inch blue 24. They have $1295 on one 624 with "rubber" grips. The one with finger groove targets is $1395. The 24 is $1395. They have been there for a good while. As to what they are actually worth, apparently not worth what they are asking in this market as they have not sold.

For whatever it's worth, I paid $1400 for this one (ALU5801) at a Rock Island auction last November. You might find one for less, probably not much less.

OP, I bought mine off of GB a few years ago, it was mint condition with box and goodies. I can't remember what I paid for it.
It was a goodly sum, though.

Never seen a 624 with a dash. I think they were a "one and done" model and took years to finally sell all of the original batch.

OK. This is not a model. I know anything about so that is good info. Thanks a friend of mine knows where one is and wants to get a value on it.
624's went up to -3 in 1993. The 5000 Lew Horton 624s had AHT and ALW prefixes. If it is a LH I have the contact info for the former COO of LH. For $60 you can get a Lew Horton LOA (letter).
I have seen LH go for $1600 with holster, etc. Sold one (gun only) to a friend last year for $1200.

In sept. of 85, a 624 3" Lew Horton ALU0687, along with a pancake holster from Smith offered by Horton with it, came home with me. Total cost out the door $310. 5 years later, I sold it back to my dealer friend (for his personal gun) for what I paid for it. He didn't want the holster, as he had a shoulder rig for it , so I kept it. Still use it for my 624 4". When I look at current prices, I am thankful I kept my 24-3 3"Horton with hoster combo. Happy, I got to own the 624's and 24's (full set of each until other things called to me), that I got for great deals, thanks to him. I know he enjoyed the 624 till he passed and his kid is doing the so now.

I was picturing in my mind the 6 1/2 inch models that I used to carry concealed. I forgot about the LH special runs.
Picked mine up a couple years ago, with the correct holster. Picked up a NOS holster along the way as well for whatever reason. Not my favorite S&W.

These 3" N-frames are one of my favorite S&W models and I have been following them on the online auction sites for several years. I purchased a 24-3 LH model on Gunbroker six years ago for $1150 with the box, tools and paperwork. At that time similar ones were selling for $1300+. Two years ago I bought a 624 (box but no tools or papaerwork) for $1350. Both revolvers were immaculate. Just a few days ago, a 24-3 without the Lew Horton grips (had an aftermarket plastic grip with a crack) hammered at $1775 which I thought was too high but apparently some people are willing to pay that price. Other listings with pristine finish, LH grips, box, tools and paperwork have been listed for $2000+ on GB, Gunsamerica, Guns International and other websites. If you come across one in decent condition still wearing the correct grips in the neighborhood of $1000 I would grab it. As far as the original S&W branded holster made for the 624 (BLW 624) they are hard to come by. There is a vendor on eBay selling one currently, new in the original package, for $215. Attached is an original magazine ad for the 624. I know its not very clear to read but it's the only copy I could find.

My 624 LH has an ALV prefix. I picked it up in November of last year along with this 1006 from a gentleman for $2000 cash for both. He even provided the letter from Earl. In the letter, Earl states that there were 7000 made. Here's a copy of the ad also. Let's see if it comes out clearer than SAPDretired's copy. OP…on your value question, even without the box, tools and paperwork, I'd say $1400-$1500 easy.

MY LH 3 in 624 has an ALU prefix.......The rest of the # is way under 100.

A local range had one up on their consignment board and I missed it by 5 minutes! I called but someone off the range grabbed it before I could reserve it
Same grips as yours and a few spots of rust but those would buff out. No box or papers.
The part that hurts the most…
They had it marked at $550!

Just paid $1,800 for my mint condition with box and tools, 24-3 LH. I know that sounds high but it was only $25 more than the person bidding against me so there is at least one other person in the world who thought that's what it's worth. Wanted it to go with my 4" & 6.5" 24-3's.

Model 624 serial number ALU66xx but the Lew Horton folks told me it was not one of theirs back in 2012 when I bought it for $700.00.

It does not matter in the least whether it was sold through Lew Hoton or another distributor. Either way, it would be the exact same gun.
Here are my Models 24 and 624. I was told by the seller that the Model 24 was distributed by LH, but that does not matter to me.

My M24 is my favorite Revolver I own. I've had to replace triggers on most of mine but this one was so good in it's original form I wouldn't dream of it. Shoots smooth with either "weak sauce" rounds or 255gr Hot Sauce loads from Underwood. Its an instant classic and more and more people want one it seems. Prices on GB definitely reflect that...-Hams
