I obtained a 625-3 with a BEN serial nr,
4" bbl, 45acp.

The sights had been changed to XS, and the tritium is dim from age. I prefer the standard sights and will be restoring the original condition. At least more or less, as I will be using a ramp front whether or not those were standard.

S&W reports the standard front is 0.243" H and the rear blade is 0.106H.
The figures are at odds with those I have seen here in the past, which are front=0.30". I have not seen rear blade dimensions.

Does anyone have an as-issued 4" he would measure for me, or please direct me to accurate corroboration to the S&W dimensions?

Many thanks.

Oh, and WELCOME!

Thanks for the data and the welcome.
Good to be with you guys.

While not the original sight heights probably the most common "upgrade" is to a .160 rear / .300 front. The .160 rear has a deeper notch and gives a better sight picture, be the front black or FO.

tennexplorer, I don't believe the ft sight base was modified for the XS. It appears that a heavy dose of sealant and the pin hold it in the factory slot.
tomcatt51, thanks. I will seek those sights. I used to have a revolver with a particularly deep notch, probably 30% deeper than my others, and as-issued from the factory, and I loved that sight picture.
