625-7 45 colt Dilemma and Question

If you want great 45 colt cylinders start with 44 mag cylinders, BUT, just getting a 45 colt reamer will not work. A factory reamer that cuts .452 throats will have a .452 pilot which will not go in a .429 44 throat. You either need to get a .452 reamer with a .429 pilot to open the throats to .452 so you can run the 45 colt reamer or have the pilot on a 45 colt reamer turned and polished to .429

All great ideas. Thanks.

I ordered the .454" bullets from Montana bullets
Last night.

They should get here in about 2 weeks.

I'll start there and see how it goes.

Speaking of bullets and barrel diameters, IF you fire a slightly under groove dia bullet barrel many believe you would loose pressure and have poor engagement. But, let me ask this, just where do you think the material displace by the lands in such an example will go? It will get displaced into the grooves.

A .356 bullet in a .357 bore and 22lr bullets in 22mag barrels, comes to mind.

Inside diameter of course.

The Model 25-2 has 6 lands and grooves, easily measured.

The Model 25-5 has 5 lands and grooves, not as easily measured.

I could easily believe there is a lot of problems with constriction of the barrels where they thread into the frame.
