625 and a 45 Auto Rim Question

My 625 is a dash 4 with a hammer mounted hammer nose.I am going to try and check some other primer loads in the next week or two and see if I can get a repeat of the past problems I have experienced. Thanks again for all the reply's!

I only shoot 45 ar in my 25-2's. I don't like messing around with moon clips.

I only shoot ACP rounds in Moonclips in the 3 guns I have (1937 Brazilian, M25-2 & M625-3). I don't like messing around with AR brass as my press is set up to load 45 ACP.

I use AR brass for loads not suitable for an auto pistol and acp brass for most loads that can be used in revolver or autos.

You didn't say what (dash) model you have but, assuming you have one with a frame mounted firing pin, I'd suggest that firing pin length may be marginal.

I deleted the useful detailed info provided after this sentence. I have had two 45ACP S&Ws; one is my 625-6 that is still in LE possession pending a trial after it was recovered; the other a conversion by Hamilton Bowen. Never a problem with any ammo in either. Most of what I shoot is either Black Hills (both ball and HP) or Gold Dot 230 grain HP (duty ammo). I have shot other stuff, like Winchester white box ball and a few rounds of 45AR.

My best guess is that there some flaw in your revolver; either the spring theory, or the firing pin are out of spec. S&W went with some marginal length firing pins to address some silly drop test (California's, I think) that has no real chance of occurring in the real world; I've seen many references to that.

Groo here
Just shot a class with my 325 Thunder ranch.[They wanted us to shoot "slower", that's hard to do]
All moon clips [ranch products] no problems.......
I make up my +P+ or "super "loads in auto rim to keep them out of my autos....
