625

I have one and like it fine except for the thin grooved trigger. Just suck it up and get one - put it on plastic and work hard to pay it off while you enjoy it now!

I don't have the JM variation but I have 2 625's and 3 earlier blue versions. One of the 625's is my regular shooter. Love them all... must have moon clips running in my veins. I think you will like it. They are worth saving up for.

The JM is based on a 625-8-find one and send it in for the Master Revolver Package. That's what I did, and it is, and has been one of my favorites. What a Hawg Leg!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Absolutely love mine, although I had to change out the grips to rubber Pachs. The nerve/tissue damage in the web of my shooting hand will not tolerate wood or round butt-style grips. Other shooters take exception to the trigger and/or trigger pull, but after a lifetime of S&W service revolvers, I have little to complain about.

There is a dedicated group of 625 shooters on the Forum; I suspect most will chime in here. Good shooting!

My 2 are a 325sc & a 625-2. Since I have gotten into shooting 45 acp revolvers they have become my favorite. The moonclips are fantastic at the range for reloading & it doesn't bother me at all to demoon & load the moon clips at home during the week. I have the moonclip tool for loading & demooning. When it breaks I will get the BMT.

Have a 5 inch 625 and love it. Have a 325PD and if I had to carry a revolver then that would be it.

625 JM is one of my favorites. It is a 2008 -8 gun. I have changed the grips a few times. It now has a Hi-Viz front sight, which is great for us older shooters. ( a 30 second swap) It loves 200gr. plated bullets that I load. Bought a 25-15 in 45 Colt to keep it company. Bob

Bananaman: Berrys plated bullets? I load their 200 gr. with 231, and it is a sweet, accurate load.

Cherokee1;
I have a 625-6 with 5" barrel and a 625-8 (JM Special) with a 4" barrel. The JM is my favorite revolver and I have several thousand rounds through mine. It has never been shot with anything but home cast bullets. A .452" cast bullet from WW's+2% tin will regularly shoot under 1" at 25 yards.

My "standard" target bullet is a Mihec mould for the H&G #68 cast bullet (200 gr SWC). My speed loader bullet is the Lee 230 gr Truncated Cone with normal lube groove. It loads slick as s*** and with its flat nose has much better terminal effect than hard ball.

My heavy bullet load is built around a NOE mould for the Lyman 454424 (250 gr Keith). That bullet can be driven, safely, to 900+ fps with 7.0 grs of Unique. It should work just fine for large whitetail deer and hogs at anything like reasonable ranges.

When using the heavy bullets I use a roll crimp to avoid bullet creep. I have a Lee die set for my Dillon 550B's. Lee, at slight extra cost, will supply the roll crimp insert together with the need spacer to enable roll crimping with the ACP die.

I use Auto Rim cases (Starline) when using the heavy bullet. ACP cases AND Auto Rim cases for the lighter bullets.

I have a number of very desirable Smith revolvers and the JM Special is very high on my list of BEST!

When I first started shooting Steel Challenge I used this 625 JM. It worked great until I realized I needed more that six rounds. It is still one of my favorite revolvers to shoot. It would be one of the last ones I would ever sell.
