Afternoon All
I have 2 686's One is a 686-4 and the other is a 686-3
The 686-3 is .04 thicker on the barrel width,it is .787 wide ,where the 686-4 is .747 wide.
I also noticed the-3 is much heavier
I can not find anything on the difference anywhere,not even the S&W bible
Any Thoughts

Can you quantify the "much heavier" conclusion? Depending on the grips and the barrel style and length, the guns should be about the same.

Is the dash 3 a SB, is the dash 4 a RB ?
Is the dash 4 a 7 shot ?
