Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum - so I apologize if my question has gone answered somewhere on here. I did scour the forum postings prior to this.

I've got a 629-4 3", with a Hogue grip that I was hoping to get a value on. I've been tossing the idea around on selling it but haven't been able to find any of them on gunsamerica or gun broker to help assess value. I believe this revolver was produced in the early to mid nineties.

Thanks for any help!

The experts here would need more information to give you a ball park figure for your gun. What is the condition, has it been fired much, does it have the original box paperwork and tools that it shipped with? The 3" barrel will bring a bit more. Is it the standard barrel or classic style?
The more good pictures you can provide, the better.

Richard, thank you. I will post photos as soon as I get home today. Condition of the firearm is very good and I don't think any more than 100 - 200 rounds have been put through it.

Thanks again

A "standard condition" 3" 629-4 with a modest round count, lacking box/paperwork/original grips is a $650-700 revolver to the right buyer. $100+ more on the upside based on condition and extras, as well as geographical location.

Thanks mc5aw - thats sort of what I was thinking. Here are some photos.

The photos appear to represent the revolver as you described it. A nice, clean 3" N-frame with no box/papers/original grips. I would not shy away from it at my LGS for the price range I noted. Obviously, asking prices are different from actualized prices, so you can tag it for as much as you choose. If it sells for X, then it is technically worth X, irrespective of what myself or anyone else has quoted you. For something like this, you might consider posting it in the classified section here on the Forum. You will attract serious buyers, as opposed to a bunch of window shoppers, want-something-for-nothing clowns, non-paying bidders, etc. that we all deal with on the various auction sites. Be sure to include an amount for shipping LGS to LGS (usually ~ $35), and see how quickly interested parties contact you. I tend to think your 629 will not last more than a day on the Forum at a fair price.

In my area that gun would command at least 1K. The pre lock 3" guns are gold and I often see them for more than 1K. If you join gun broker and go advanced and look at completed auction you will probably find some that actually sold that's the info you need. My experience would be to list it here in the guns for sale section if it doesn't sell in two day's or so lower it a bit. Bump it once a day and I'm sure there's a buyer lurking around here. You have a desirable gun.

Thanks guys. I created an account and did check the completed auctions. I'll be sure to post on here first, as I'd rather sell to S&W guys than deal with an auction site. This is a beautiful firearm - it will be hard to let her go.
