I recently done some trading, I got a 629-4, It has a magna ported 6 inch barrel and a trigger job, he said he sent it to S&W and had the work done, it is in excellent shape, locks up tight, shoots good and the trigger is excellent, I traded a XD 45 even for it , how did I do.

With 95% finish and no original box or papers it is a $600 gun. I am not adding anything for the "work" that was done to it. In 99% I would go $700. Here is my 29-3. It is a 95% finish with original box. It came with rubber grips which i believe were factory. It now has ivories and a bit of cold blue. I paid $600

With wood grips I would go a bit higher and if it has a presentation box higher yet.

Ya stole it. Used XD mebbe 450, 500 on a good day, your 629-4 with the Magna Port easy 650.

629's of any dash number routinely go for $800+ here, with no box/docs/tools to boot. They normally don't last more than a day or two in the display case.

Jay Kellog - I bought a brand new 29-3 6" in 1987...it came with nice targets on it.

You done good. look at it this way. you can get an another XD anytime, but they dont make em like the -4 anymore. many consider the -4 to be the best iteration of the 629. you get the endurance package as well as the hammer mounted firing pin and no IL. nice pickup.
