Ok so I have a 629-5 Classic with 5" full lugged barrel (round butt). Love the gun, had it for a few years. Hate the hogue grips that it came with. The rubber seems really sticky and annoying and the finger grove locations feel like they are made for a space alien.

Would you all be so kind as to recommend a set of stocks that might be close to my specifications?

Here's what I think I'm after:

- No finger grooves, don't like them on my revolvers.
- Wood would be nice, don't really care what as long as it looks nice.
- I don't like the natural inside frame contour of Smith butts, I need a little more meat under there for comfort, like on a Tyler-T grip.
- Smith Medallions would be cool, but not a deal killer.

I have a Ruger Security Six that came with what I think are Pachmayer presentation rubber stocks. This contour seems about perfect to me so something along those lines might be just the ticket but in wood.

Here is the gun in question.

Thanks in advance!

You've kind of described a set of Herrett Trooper, Jordan Trooper or Shooting Master stocks, which fill in that area behind the trigger guard so your finger is not between it and the front of the grip to get you knuckle bit.

The Jordan Trooper covers the grip frame backstrap and can be too large to be comfortable, but Herrett will scale them down to fit your hand when you send in a tracing.

Do a search on the forum for "Herrett Trooper" or "Jordan Trooper" and you'll find postings with pictures of them.

Look into NiLL grips. They have a great selection. Pricey but well worth it. May be NiL Grips

I like Ahrends grips, especially for the price. They have round butt styles that might appeal to you like the retro banana grip.
I know what you mean about the Hogues. Pachmayer's feel better, at least you can put your fingers where you please, and quite functional. They aren't as sticky either, but they are still ugly IMO.

Send Herrett's a tracing of your hand and grip frame and ask them which of their grips they'd recommend for you. may be the Jordan's, but may be another grip like their Detective, depending on your hand size.
