629 6.5" or 5" which to buy ?

Five inch is the way to go in my opinion

5" or 6.5"

5" will be a good choice up to 25 yards and defending yourself from bears and lions, but if you want to hunt deer and hogs you may want to consider a 6.5" barrel for shots 50 yards and more.

A friend of mine has the 5" 629 Classic and I have the 6.5" version. As mine is strictly a range gun and never carried I actually like having a little extra weight when firing 44 Mag loads. The only 44 mag that I owned that was more "pleasant" to shoot than the 6.5" 629 was a 10.5" Super Blackhawk.

Either barrel length is a great choice , the gun shop only had a 6.5" 629 the day I bought mine , if they only had the 5" model available that day I would probably have a 5" today.

Thanks for all the opinions. After hearing all the praises for the 5" model I decided to purchase it instead of the 6.5" model. It should arrive in a week or so, I'll post my thoughts after I get to put a few rounds through it.
