The forcing cone leads on the grooves in my 3 inch .44 Magnun are extremely rough. Did not notice it until I cleaned it for the first time. It is a new revolver, not used. Is this normal for this caliber? My 625 JM or my 686SSR does not look like this. Your thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.

I have the same problem on my 629. I plan on re-cutting the forcing cone to an 11 degree taper, as I almost exclusively shoot cast. I made up the reamer and lap to match. I will happily loan it to you if you wish.

How far does yours extend into the barrel? Mine goes inward about .250" inch. I looked at PC .44's and they are not line that. Called Smith and they said the manufacture of PC baarrels is different. Can I email you a pic of mine to see if it is similar?

Not sure how far mine extends into the barrel, as it is in pittsburgh and I am in Miami. Feel free to E-mail me with what you have. I'm not sure what the angle is on mine, but after allot of reading It seems that 11 degrees is the consensus on lead. I should be home in a week or two. I can compare then. Basically: Mine is just plain rough. (Bad reamer, chipped, full of chips, gnawed on by a beaver... Not quite sure, but I know it is not right... Or at least what I will settle for,)
