If you don't plan to shoot a lot of full-house magnum ammunition in it, any variation of the 629 should work for you. I have a six-inch 629-1 and have zero problems with it shooting my 240-grain cast semi-wadcutters.

The only thing I have done to it is replace the rear sight assembly with a Millett - it gives my aging eyes a better sight picture. I have toyed with having the integral front sight replaced with a black Patridge but hate to permanently alter an older gun.

I wound up winning a Gunbroker auction for a 6" no dash 629, so i guess we're going early 629. I'll post some pics when I have it in hand.
I would not worry about lack of endurance package. I've put thousand of rounds through my 629-2 with no issues. All factory 240 gr loads.
