I ordered 2 new 642's without the lock and got them home and on inspection when opening the gun the plunger and the spring that locks the extractor flew across the room. Put it back together and found the pin that holds them in place in the box. Re-assembled with pin, tapped on the barrell a few times and it fell out. This gun looks like a second compared to the other one I bought. I was buying them as a investment. I would like one that looks new, will they just patch this one up and send it back or give me a new one?

Thanks Sam

You can send an email on S&W's website to get a shipping label sent to you. Fedex it back to them and they will take care of it. It will probably take a week or two. Did you not notice this when you inspected at your dealer?

I would think S&W should have noticed this before they shipped it!

I completely agree. I would wonder how they test fired it if the extractor falls out upon opening the cylinder.

That's crazy....I'm sure they'll make it good but it does make you wonder how it even happened. I have a 642 i bought new a year or so ago from buds guns. its a no lock and have I've shot 500 - 600 rounds down range without a slightest hiccup. Its one of my favorite CCW's.
