Got my 642 UC a couple of weeks ago.
Everything is perfect on it.
Trigger pull is a smooth 10 lbs, accuracy is good and reliability with a variety of handloads and factory loads has been 100%.
But you know we always want more so I ordered an Apex duty/carry kit and installed it.
After 2 light strikes I reinstalled the stock hammer spring.
Then proceeded to do some dryfiring and noticed the trigger return was sluggish and failed to return several times.
Out came the Apex rebound spring and in went the stock rebound spring.
I left the extended Apex firing pin and spring in.The trigger pull with the Apex Kit was a great 8.5 lbs.
After putting the stock springs in reliability returned to perfect with another 200 rounds fired.
Your results may be different but be sure and take the time and ammo to thoroughly test all functions.
The stock 10 lb trigger feels lighter,All in all I am 100% satisfied with my 642 UC.

My particular 642UC's trigger dropped from just over 10 lbs to 9.3 lbs after oiling (mine was pretty dry inside) and a ~500 trigger pulls. I would've done some polishing as well, but I sent it back to S&W to get the dead night sight replaced (over a month ago now with no update since they opened the package).

It was able to reliably ignite hard Servicio & Aventuras primers in reloads Those primers are known for having issues in guns with lighter springs and even some factory sprung striker fire pistols.

Oil, Oil, Oil!

For those receiving the new UC guns, remove the side plate and apply ONE drop of a light oil at the trigger & hammer pivot pin and One drop at the bottom of the trigger return slide! It appears S&W cannot afford oil when assembling these guns! Everyone I have seen the inside of was bone dry! As for the front sight, I used a high intensity LED flashlight, held on the rear of the front sight for a couple mins and it now is "lit"!

Oil it up

Get mine next week. Good call on the oil. I’ve seen a few vids of the hammer getting stuck.

Had one come in today that got sent right back. 3/5 cylinders were out of time. Disappointing.

Curious how one can tell when the cylinder is out of time on some or all of the 5 holes? I am dumb to this stuff and need to learn. TY
