Hi guys,

I need your expert eyes/opinion, does this forcing cone look ok or not? It is somehow flat at the bottom.....

It is SW 65-2, 3 inch, marked as Massachusetts State Police.

Should I go for it or better leave it, please? You will know right away. Thank you.

If you're asking about the inside of the forcing cone, need more light to see the actual forcing cone. If you're referring to the flat on the bottom of the outside of the barrel tenon, it's there for yoke clearance.

The bottom interior edge of the forcing cone appears distorted (not fully round), as if it has seen lots of wear.

Have you inspected the gun in person? Finding a replacement barrel will be difficult and/or expensive.

thank you guys, few more pictures, but I understand that the gun seen a lot of wear. I pass, I want it to shoot it not to look at it. Thank you. you are great.

If the price was right, I would buy and clean up the forcing cone. If it ended up needing a barrel, a 2, 3 or 4 would go good with the round butt.

Recutting the forcing cone would clean up the surface, but if it heavily eroded or cracked that would be bad. A few extra questions or some closeup photos from the seller may clarify matters.

Lou, thanks for getting me to take a close up look at the forcing cone.
If the gun was priced right, I mean way low I'd buy it. Then shoot nothing more powerful than 38 special +P ammo in it. It could be a great kick around gun.

Thank you guys, I will pass. Otherwise the revolver was just fine - timing, lockup etc. I want my guns to be in top shape. Thank you again.
