I posted this one yesterday, but since you asked... I foolishly sold a nice M65 no dash years ago and have been looking for one ever since. Finally found this one. It's not getting away!
Here's my Model 65-3, along with my Model 13-3 and Model 64-3 all with 3.0 inch barrels. I really like the 3.0 inch barreled K-frames, and I'd love to add a Model 65 Ladysmith one day.
I walked into my LGS looking for a shark gun. Ok, I was really looking for a boat gun and they had a 4" GP100. I'd been lusting after a GP since the early 90's and they had one in the case. Grabbed it, fondled it and dry fired it (with their permission). It was OK, just wasn't quite what I had built up in my mind over the years. The owner's son saw my disappointment and reached under the counter and handed me the 65-3. "Try this one he said." It was lust at first sight. The action was incredible, the "pointability" was amazing and it was stainless! When I opened the cylinder (for the second time; the first was a safety check) I noticed the proof marks were my initials. Can you say sold?
And by the way, it doesn't do shark or boat duty these days. That's reserved for the G30 which can be replaced easily....
Here you go, an old police trade in I've had for years. It had Pachmayers on it and I just (like this morning) traded out these grips from another 686 to this one. For some reason I like these on this gun more than I like them on the 686 - maybe the weight?
Anyway, here it is.
Nice bunch of guns here.maybe we should merge this thread with the 3in 357 thread..
I've had my 65-5 since new.in the old days you could get your smithing done during the 5 day waiting period. I had this one sent to bill Davis before I picked it up.
