Scored a 4 inch 66-1 yesterday; not pinned, yet is recessed; target hammer and trigger; possible Georgia State Patrol provenance...have to check some sources....pics up shortly...serial range 102Kxxx...about 1981 I think.

MY 66-1

ST REGIS: Congrats on your 66-1. Is it a SB or RB?

I don't mean to hijack your thread, but can't figure out to initiate a separate new thread from the main page.

The serial # of my 66-1 is 32K35xx. Friends on this site already told me the DOB & then I promptly misplaced the date before putting it in my inventory. Will someone please remind me of that date?

Thanks very much, Old Guy Hankster

1978/1979 Hank. Oh, and there's a New Thread button at the top of the page.

The GSP 66s were marked on the right sideplate with their logo.

Hope that you got a good one.....!

Are you sure the barrel isn't pinned? I may be mistaken, but I believe that vintage 66 should have a pinned barrel.

66-1 2 1/2 also recessed not pinned

I have a 66-1 RB 2 1/2 inch in the 98 K serial range that is recessed but not pinned. I am told these are called transitional models. Great find for you.

A 66-1 with un-pinned barrel, IMHO is not quite as desirable as a pinned one, BUT, I'd be willing to bet that on those early "transitional" guns they were still making the effort to get the barrels clocked up right to demonstrate that the efficacy of the "new" technique. I'd be willing to place a small wager that you'll find yours to be a very good one. JMHO, of course, but I speak with fair confidence!
