I picked up this gun today. I prefer N frames but I think I got into it okay for a quick flip/trade bait for what I really want (.41 mags) It is marked M686-1 serial #ANS 017x. The seller thought it was a LH gun but I thought LH were non-dash guns. The combats are dirty from hand use/oil but in good shape. A few small scratches that would buff out with polish. Also has a nice Strong fitted holster. A solid gun but not anib. I looked on GB but couldn't find any sales of this gun. Last one I saw at gun show (similar/no combats on it,) was listed @$800, not sure if it sold. Any info would be appreciated, thanks.

Love the 686's. Looks like you got a 1986 gun. In regards to the Lew Horton issue; they started in 1984 and 2500 were produced with a product code of 104212 but since you don't have the original box with the label that's not going to do you much good. You can call Lew Horton and they can quickly tell you if it was one of their guns or not. $800.00 seems to be about a going price for what you have. Hope this helps.

I've been watching -4 and older 686's on gunbroker for a couple weeks. Most are selling below $700. The only ones selling for more are the Lew Hortons and the occasional ones that pop up in excellent condition with box/papers. I just got a -4 for 580, the 10 or so I bid on prior were closer to $600 than $700. Most never making it to the reserve price.

As to whether it's Lew Horton or not, like lonestar said, only way to check is to ask them.

Not a Horton batch 686-1 but exactly the same as theirs 'according to them'.
