Hi folks,

I recently acquired a long-sought 686-3 PC Competitor, and would like some info from the experts, please.

The gun arrived with the weight set you see; two weights and one spacer. Is that the full compliment of parts with which it shipped, or were there more of each?

Thanks!

I'll get a range report as soon as weather allows.

The three there make a full set that seats fully with the hardware.

I wanted to know if it came with 3 weights and 3 spacers, for example, to allow for max adjustments to the balance.

A quick call to the mothership conformed that the larger weight sets are NLA.

I did appreciate the kind offer of shipping me a full set of the smaller weights to try, but I declined.

As tungsten is a bit challenging to turn in the small machine to which I have access, I may cast one or two in hardcast lead. The delrin inserts should be a breeze.

Stay tuned.

Guys, I have a question.
I'm a relatively new shooter & have recently moved from IPSC shooting a SIG Legion 9 to service match using the club 686 6"

The question I have is, would it be better to save & purchase a Competitor or buy a standard 686 L and have it customised by an expert gunsmith?

Any experiential advice would be greatly appreciated.

You should put both in your hand. The weight difference between them will probably be the deciding factor for you. Either way both probably need work on the action, cylinder throats, forcing cone and crown.
