Had a 686-6 6" a few years ago and got rid of it, just couldn't handle the lock on there and have been looking for a pre-lock 586 or 686 for quite some time now to replace it. Picked this fine 686-3 off of Gunbroker last week and picked it up this morning. It is a dandy. Not a scratch or mark and the grips are perfect, there is barely a turn line. Serial # BJC7XXX, grips dated February 27, 1992. Still a white dot sticker on the frame with a black "3" on it. $650 plus $15 shipping plus $25 transfer fee = $690

Anyway, I need help with a couple of questions on it. It did not come with a box and contents. I am wanting to put it all together like original, so I am wanting to identify the exact product code this 686-3 is? I wonder if someone could post a picture of their box end label for the exact gun and also a picture of the correct box and contents for this gun.

Nothing extra special, Red Ramp, black rear sights. hard chromed hammer and trigger. There are quite a few numbers under the grip stamped on the frame that I can post if that would help.

I am also looking to preserve these grips and find a pair of slimmer grips, something like whats on a PC 627 - 8 Times. Is there such a animal for this fine pistol.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Beautiful gun

I can't help, other than to say you bought a great revolver. I have a 686-3 4" just like it, and it is one of my favorite shooters, and favorites for just looking like a magnum revolver should look. I have a 586 to match, and though I always thought of myself as a blue steel and walnut guy, the stainless 686 is just as pretty as the 586 to me.

Nice gun! Member Kernel Crittenden will correct me if I am wrong, but this one likely came in the dark blue cardboard box with the flap, PC 104221 with the plain black rear sight and 104222 with the white outline. Enjoy!
