686-4 Value question

I saw a 2 1/2 inch 686-4 with 7 shot cylinder yesterday. The hammer and trigger have been polished and front sight changed to a tritium night sight (probably dead by now). It is wearing a set of finger groove VZ grips.

They were asking $849 and would not budge on the price. Is this fair or too high.

I'm not as familiar with the later 686's so I passed, but its been on my mind.

If it's in decent condition, and you want one, you should really get back in your car at that price level. That's what I would do. Let know if you need any more help spending money

Thanks for the encouragement. I think its a great deal, but its a shooter and I have about 50 S&W revolvers that I don't shoot now.
