Here's my track and chart on the 686 Plus 2-1/2" Bbl. The six shooter would be a little less, maybe $25:
Smith & Wesson 686 Plus Revolver in .357 Magnum, .38 Special, Plus P, 2-1/2 in Bbl. Bluebook of Gun Values (29th Edition) indicates between $495 in 98% condition and $625 in 100% condition for this gun. I have 44 recorded prices for this model gun from $350 to $856 over a period of 1665 days ending January 29, 2009. The average price as of that date was $508. No refurbs, refinishes, regular sights, all represented as 95% or better, no distinction for import location or engineering revision, if any, no special editions, no distinctions for box, papers, tools. Current or last MSRP is $932.
The dash 5 is a desirable model for those that abhor the internal lock, it's the last revision without it. If you still have the original box, papers, etc, that would increase the price. The 2-1/2 versions are relatively few and far between. People who have 'em seem to keep 'em and the demand is higher for them. Notice how the price trend appears dramatically steep compared to inflation evidenced by the (relative) Consumer Price Index change during the same period.
